Accra Hearts of Oak says the decision to exclude experienced midfielder, Sulley Muntari, from the match day squad is purely a medical reason and nothing else.
The 37-year-old did not make the team’s squad that traveled to Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region, to face Ghana Premier League side Dormaa Aduana Stars.
The game is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 3:00pm at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Stadium, in a week 20 encounter of the 2021/22 GPL.
There were speculations suggesting that, Sulley Muntari asked to be left out of the squad for personal reasons.
But the reigning league champions in a statement indicated that the ex-Inter Milan and AC Milan midfielder was left out due to injury he picked in the club’s previous games.
“The decision to exempt Sulley Ali Muntari from the game against Aduana Stars is based on medical advice after he picked a knock in our previous game and not his personal decision as being speculated,” Accra Hearts of Oak stated.
The Phobians used the opportunity to announce, that forward Isaac Agyenim Boateng and midfielder, Daniel Kordie have all resumed training at the club, after staying out due to injuries.
It added that star player Salifu Ibrahim “is still under medical observation” and has “started light training works.”
