The Leader of the Lord’s Parliament Chapel, Apostle Francis Amoako-Atta, has counselled the Akufo-Addo-led administration to make food production a priority to cushion the economy.
According to him if care is not taken, a time will come when Ghanaians would struggle to get bread to buy.
Prophet Amoako-Atta, therefore, suggested, on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofo Breakfast Show, that government should “focus on food and oil,” as a measure to bring relief to Ghanaians.
He indicated that the country is not in normal times and all Ghanaians must come to the realisation that economic and living standards are hard now.
In his view, the government’s emergency cabinet meeting over the weekend at Peduase to find feasible solutions to the economic hardship was a step in the right direction.
While noting that the peak season of the covid-19 pandemic was a golden opportunity for investors, he indicated that right now all attention should focus on oil and food and that’s where people can benefit from their investments.
The leader of the Lord’s Parliament Chapel also commended the government’s decision to halt the PCR test at the Kotoka International Airport but suggested that they should also fast-track the decision to halt the wearing of the nose masks.
He further said that focusing only on stabilising the cedi as an antidote to Ghana’s economic woes would only lead to failure.
The preacher was worried that when the cedi depreciated against the dollar from GHc2 to GHc3, it never came back but kept on falling freely to GHc4, GHc5, GHc6 and now it has crossed from GHc7 to GHc8.
“In times of crisis, you must choose your battle else if the battle chooses you, it comes with pleasure and pain because, you are not prepared,” he cautioned the government.
