Former Member of Parliament of Adenta, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, has accused the opposing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for only being good at destruction than building upon the created policies by the NPP government.

According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is noted to “build”, however the NDC is keen to “destroy.”

Mr. Buaben Asamoa’s comment comes after London-based research organisation, Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) had cited unemployment, infrastructure and anti-corruption as factors slowing governance progress which could be a reason for change of power in 2024.

EIU identified these in their latest report whiles projecting that the opposing NDC stands a better chance of winning the next general elections with a new candidate as leader of the party.

Commenting on the findings, the Communication Director described the NDC as a party whose core mandate is gaining power to dismantle what has been created.

“The EIU cites slow governance progress as another reason for change in 2024. Unemployment, Infrastructure and Anti-Corruption. The cumulative record of the NPP in the 4th Republic is better on all these factors than the NDC. The NPP builds and the NDC destroys” Buaben Asamoah stated.

He further iterated that the NDC in the past has demonstrated the tendency to retrogress than progress in areas of unemployment, infrastructure and anti-corruption.

“But more importantly, NDC has not demonstrated any policy capacity capable of turning out better and faster outcomes in the areas listed. Indeed, the tendency is for the NDC to set the country back in respect of these factors whenever the eight-year cycle kicks in.”

Buttressing his argument, Yaw Buaben Asamoah recalled going to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as NDC’s only measures to address the current economic challenges facing the country due to the twin scourges of Covid-19 and the Russia/Ukraine.

“No country is immune to the twin scourges of Covid-19 and the Russia/Ukraine conflict. The NDC’s solution to the economic difficulties driven by these factors is to seek solace in the IMF”

“Abandon their leadership to the excuse of the IMF and feed off the crumbs of the harsh austerity measures that would roll back all the socially sensitive policies the NPP is sustaining to cushion the Ghanaian” he noted.
