A Co-founder of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Otchere Darko, has argued that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s One District One Factory (1D1F) policy is the biggest ever factory roll-out in Ghana.

According to the Pan-Africanist, the introduction of the initiative remains the biggest in the history of the county.

“This is the largest factory rollout in the history of Ghana and the Gold Coast,” the key member of the New Patriotic Party stated.

This, he claims Ghana’s first president, Dr. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah only managed to accomplish a fraction of what President Akufo-Addo’s 1D1F has accomplished.

“Not even Nkrumah achieved a quarter of this in his 9yrs from Independence. Even better, all financed through credit from Govt but privately owned” he tweeted.

Mr. Gabby defended his claim indicating that there has been a total of 278 incorporated IDIF companies captured in 2021, out of it he said 106 are in operation whiles 148 are also under construction. Meanwhile, 24 projects are also in the pipeline.

However, Seth Terkper, a former Finance Minister under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama government disagreed with Mr. Gabby Otchere Darko’s claims.

“Not sure if fiscal framework includes the credits/loans. Direct loans or on-lending? We see the Budgets and, more importantly, Public Accounts that reflect liability (lenders to Govt) and assets (debtors to Govt). Off-Budget? We ask since not how shows in net amortization” he replied.
