A heavy downpour in the early hours of Saturday, June 18, 2022 in the Central Region has led to the destruction of the main bridge linking the Central Regional capital, Cape Coast to Twifo Praso.

This, videos available to Angelonline.com.gh indicate has led many motorists and other commuters being stranded; a situation which has led the Central Regional Director for National Disaster Management Organisation [NADMO], Mr Joseph Donkoh to appeal to the motoring public to immediately assess an alternative means of travelling.

Mr Donkoh said due to the heavy downpour of rain in the Denkyira Jukwa and it environs, the only bridge that link Cape Coast, Jukwa to Kakum National Park and Twifo Praso has been destroyed; so it not good for commuters plying that road to use it.

“Ghana Highway Authority kindly wishes to bring to the notice of the general public that a washout of bridge approaches at Jukwa has rendered the Cape Coast – Twifo Praso road inaccessible. The road has been cut off by the rains at Jukwa bridge.
“Motorists travelling between Cape Coast and Twifo Praso are therefore advised to use Cape Coast – Yamoransa – Assin Fosu – Twifo Praso road as the Authority mobilizes to solve the problem as soon as possible…,” the National Highways Authority said in a statement to the public.
