The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region, Yaw Danso, has rendered an unqualified apology to assembly members, and the residents of the area.

The apology comes on the back of a cheeky response he gave to a female journalist concerning recent happenings in his district.

Mr Danso in the said interview was captured on tape telling the interviewer that ‘he was dead’ following a question posed to him on his whereabouts since assembly members and residents claim they can’t reach him.

But the DCE in a statement has
since apologised for what he termed a “sarcastic” comment.

According to him, he presumed the conversation was an off-the-record because he is on such terms with the journalist.

Yaw Danso mentioned that his intention was not to malign or disrespect his assembly members and by extension the good people of Bosome Freho and Ghanaians at large.

“It was a sarcastically made utterance with Agyeiwaa Kordie, a news reporter from a media house that I have a personal relationship with. I presumed the conversation was off-the-record so I made a joke which has turned out to be an expensive one,” he added.

He also apologised to traditional rulers in the district, assuring the unfortunate incident will not repeat itself.

“Notwithstanding, I unreservedly apologise for saying “tell them I am dead” and plead with Nananom from Bosome Freho, my distinguished assembly members, the good people of Bosome Freho, and Ghanaians to pardon me for my goof.”

The apology comes at a time when 22 assembly members in the Bosome Freho district are pushing for a vote of no confidence against the DCE.

They have accused him of instigating divisions and withholding resources meant for assembly members, therefore, their call to impeach him.
