Black Stars captain, Andre Dede Ayew, has formally appeared before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports to answer questions over the team’s poor display at the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), staged in Cameroon.

The Black Stars had a disastrous display in the history of the country’s football, after failing to win any of their three group games and failing to qualify for the knockout stage.

Ghana was housed in Group ‘C’ alongside Comoros Islands, Gabon, and Morocco.

Following the poor performance, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports in February summoned the team and its captain Dede Ayew, to answer questions leading to the team’s poor campaign.

However, after the Al Sadd forward failed to appear before the committee on several occasions. He finally availed himself to the committee at its sitting in Parliament on Thursday, June 23, 2022, where he answered questions posed to him by the members.Image

Ghanaians, therefore, expect the committee’s report from the meeting to be made published.

However, the Black Stars made amends in March by beating sworn rivals Nigeria, in the play-offs to secure qualification to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.ImageImageImage
