The Ghana Police Service has arrested a total of 29 Arise Ghana demonstrators following their clash with officers deployed to enforce law and order among protesters on Tuesday.
The demonstration which turned into a chaotic event saw officers and some demonstrators among other persons sustaining various degrees of injuries.
According to the Ghana Police the incident occurred when the demonstrating group began pelting stones at the officers and vehicles belonging to the agency for trying to control and direct the crowd according to the court orders.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Director of Public Affairs, Chief Superintendent Grace Ansah-Akrofi, said available footages of the event are being viewed and any person found culpable would be brought to book.
“Also the organizers of the demonstration will be arrested and put before court for the attacks and damage to public property, in line with the provisions of section 3 of the Public Order Act (Act 491),” the statement added.
The Police have also urged the public to disregard the “falsehoods” being peddled by the organizers of the event as videos available counter their claims on the event.
