The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) through the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned Ghana from competing in Women’s U-17 World Cup qualifiers due to alleged age cheating.
The decision follows a protest filed by the Moroccan Football Association against Nancy Amoh and Rasheeda Shahadu of Ghana that the duo is above age 17.
It means Ghana will not be competing in the next two editions of the FIFA U-17 Women’s AFCON Qualifiers.
They have also been fined $100,000 after being found guilty of age falsifying.
Ghana can appeal the decision to the CAF Appeal Board after reports indicated that the FA failed to submit a written response to the allegations at the CAF Disciplinary Board as required earlier.
The Moroccans’ move was motivated after Ghana accused them of frustrating them in Rabat during the final qualifiers of the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.
Morocco initially eliminated Ghana on penalty shootouts in the second leg in Rabat after overturning a 2-0 deficit in regulation time.
