The National Youth Authority (NYA) has promised to support the ongoing Mamponteng Astroturf with funds by the end of 2022.

The assurance given by the NYA Chief Executive Officer Pius Enam Hadzide follows the sudden stop of the project scheduled to be completed by the middle of the year 2021.

It would be recalled that in the middle of 2019, the Member of Parliament for Kwabre East Constituency, Francisca Oteng Mensa together with the former Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu and others cut sod for the construction of FIFA standard Astroturf football pitch in the community.

Sources however have said the construction of the pitch could not meet its scheduled date because their source of funds failed.

But speaking to the media during a visit to the pitch on July 20, 2022, Pius Enam Hadzide, revealed that the NYA has agreed to support the project financially to its completion stage.

“The Russian-Ukraine war, we all know it is money matter and the government did not go for loan so it was our tax we depended on has reduced but the work is still functioning.

“We have put measures in place and we are in search of the money so every small money that we will gather will fit into the project,” he confirmed.

Mr Hadzide continued that the Kwabre East Constituency project has been a top priority to the NYA which they have promised to complete before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, thanking the NYA boss for their support, Madam Francisca Oteng Mensah assured the residents of Mamponteng and its surrounding towns of handing over the pitch to them by the end of the year.
