The Ghana Education Service has sent a caution to students, among other stakeholders to desist from any attempt to promote and patronize examination malpractice in the ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

GES’s message of caution comes as the written papers of the WASSCE commenced Monday, August 28, 2022, across the length and breadth of the country.

422,883 registered candidates are sitting for this year’s examination from 775 centres across the country.

While the written papers officially begin today with the English Orals, the GES in a statement said all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.

“Management of GES has worked very closely with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations throughout the country.

The statement, however, called on regional, metro, municipal, and district directors, supervisors, and invigilators to take extra precautionary measures to ensure this year’s WASSCE is “malpractice free.

“Management stands by all the key players in the administration and conduct of the examinations and urges all to work together to protect the integrity of the examinations.”

The GES also warned the candidates to desist from any act of examination malpractice to avoid facing cancellation of their results and to undermine the integrity of the council.

“Management of GES equally urges all candidates to be extra conscious of activities which will have the potential of undermining the integrity of the examinations.

“Candidates should also be mindful of the implications of misconduct during the examinations which could lead to suspension and/or cancellation of results and the negative impact that development might have on their future prospects,” it highlighted.

The GES continues by encouraging the candidates to be fully prepared and strive for independent work relying on individualistic abilities.

The GES made these statements in a goodwill message signed and issues by the Public Relations Officer of the service to all candidates writing the examination.

The 2022 WASSCE began on Monday, August 1, 2022, with the practicals. It will run for four weeks until September 27, 2022, with all scheduled subjects written in their entirety.
