Spain’s U-20 female national team has emerged victorious at the FIFA World Cup held in Costa Rica for the first time in their history.

The generation led by Salma Paralluelo, Inma Gabarro, and Andrea Medina rounded off a sensational tournament with the gold medal, achieved after beating the Japanese team in the final by 3-1.

Both teams had met at the same stage four years ago with the Japanese team denying the French side, four years after the French team avenged their loss.

In a National Stadium in San José (Costa Rica) packed with fans, especially supporters of Japan, Pedro López’s women came out to conquer the world and sealed the victory with a first half hour that is already the history of Spanish women’s football.

Spain’s  Inma Gabarro gets a shot on goal and ends up scoring the first for Spain in the 11th minute before Salma received the ball from Medina, entered the area alone, and shot into the goal to score the second.

A Japanese defender handled the ball in the 18-yard box in the 26th minute and Referee awarded a penalty to Spain, forward, Paralluelo shoots and scores from the spot to make it three in the first half of the encounter.

Upon resumption for the second half of the match, Japan’s Amano latched on to a rebound in the 6-yard box to pull one back for the Asians.
