Metro Mass Transit drivers at the Kumasi Depot have embarked on a sit-down strike to protest non-payment of their salaries.

The drivers alleged that they have not been paid for the past three months for which reason they have laid down their tools.

Angel News’ Bismark Mensah reported on the Anopa Bofo Morning Show that “the drivers have abandoned their buses.”

He added that passengers who are unaware of the sit-down strike have become stranded at the Kumasi Depot of the Metro Mass Transit Limited.

In an interview with Madam Adelaide, one of the passengers, she said “I am from Adankwa and I want to travel to Sunyani…I don’t know what to do now because I picked the exact fare Metro Mass charges but now I will have to call for additional money when I get to Sunyani [because using a different car may cost more].”

Another female passenger disclosed that “I feel frustrated because my plans have been distorted. I should have been on my way by now but [I’m still stuck here due to the strike].”
