NDC remains supreme, let’s create atmosphere of peace and mutual respect – John Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to first consider the interest of the party going into the weekend’s constituency elections.

According to him, delegates, candidates, and other officials must forgo their differences to protect the integrity of the party.

The NDC will today, Saturday, October 22, 2022, elect its executives nationwide to lead them going into the 2024 general election.

Meanwhile, 25 constituencies have been restrained from the national exercise over issues of the registrar to ensure incident-free elections.

While wishing all candidates a goodwill message, Mr. Mahama cautioned delegates to be mindful of the task ahead of them and ensure the exercise does not create an avenue to disunite the party.

“All involved need to remember that this is a family contest and therefore has to be conducted in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.

“May the victors exhibit modesty and grace even as they bask in their success and may those who are unsuccessful remember that there is always another time.

“Ultimately, the decision of the delegates ought to be respected and the interest of the party must remain supreme at all times,” he underscores.

He said the rank and file of the party should vote for people who can consolidate the NDC for victory in 2024 to rescue Ghanaians from dire hardship.

“While only one candidate can emerge for any specific position, let us bear in mind that we are all winners and the larger goal remains for us to forge a united front to rescue the people of Ghana.

“Our families and loved ones from the shackles of misrule, corruption, and economic hardships that have become the brand mark of this current NPP administration,” John Dramani Mahama said in a Facebook post.

He added, “I am excited at the keen interest these elections have evoked and want to use this medium to wish all contestants the best of luck.”
