Five-star Asante Kotoko conquer King Faisal in derby

King Faisal suffered a heavy defeat at home to city rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the regional derby of the 2022/23 betpawa Ghana Premier League.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko who played, as an away side despite playing at their favorite home grounds recorded a 3-0 feat at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday evening to win the bragging right.

The Porcupine Warriors who showed glimpses of urgency in front goal took the lead in the 11th minute through Ugandan International, Steven Mukwala.

They doubled their lead in the 28th minute after Steven Mukwala was fouled in the penalty box after receiving a pass from John Tedeku. Captain, Richard Boadu simply converted the spot kick to give his side a 2-0 lead before halftime.

Back from the break, Steven Mukwala assisted Nicholas Mensah in the 46th minute to cement the 3-0 victory for the defending champions.

Steven Mukwala who was instrumental on the night went ahead and won the Man of the Match award.

With the win, Kumasi Asante Kotoko occupies the 5th position on the league table with seven points after three games while King Faisal is bottom of the table with no points after four games.

The porcupine worriors will play Bechem United in their next league fixture whiles King Faisal also face Bibiani Gold Stars.
