Mahama’s call to reshuffle Akufo-Addo government was waste of time – NDC communicator

Chris Dugan is a communication team member of the NDC

A communication team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chris Dugan, has described the longest-serving General Secretary of the party as the “pro max of Ken Ofori Atta”.

This comes on the back of allegations that have been levelled against Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah that he sole-sourced party contracts to his son who pays 20% of revenues to the political organization.

A Vice-Chairman of the party, Said Sinare made the claims at a campaign meeting for the current National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

According to him, Mr Asiedu Nketiah unilaterally decided to bring in his son’s company, Messrs RXXONE, to undertake the project of issuing cards and collecting dues from the members among others which they believe was contrary to the principles of the party.

But reacting to the accusations, Chris Dugan said on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofo morning Show “…if an individual decides that only this company should work on all projects, no competition, no competitors, sole-sourcing, what interest do you have in the company? so you are a pro max?”

However, the administrative officer of the party Mr Emmanuel Samba Zumakpeh debunked the allegation saying that Mr Asiedu Nketiah’s son has nothing to do with the company and that the company was awarded the contract based on the principles of the party.

“The NDC is a party built on democratic principles and has in place the relevant mechanisms including a procurement committee (PC) for ensuring transparency and fairness in the procurement of goods and services for the party on no account will those robust structures allow an individual or group of persons to have any contracts ti their family reporting hidden and makes recommendations to FEC for the final award of contracts.

We would like to place on record that Messrs RXXONE, the company that was finally selected among other bidders to design the dues payment system for the party was carefully examined and found to be capable of providing value for money and subsequently awarded the contract. Also interrogated the issue at length and gave RXXONE its approval.

“We would also like to emphatically state that Mr Kwaku Nketiah, son of Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah General Secretary of the NDC. has not been awarded any contract by the party and has nothing to do with the company that was finally awarded the contract by the Finance Committee of the NDC,” Mr Emmanuel Samba said in a disclaimer issued.

But Chris Dugan rubbished the denials saying that if it were not the case that the General Secretary was involved in the conflict of interest, Alhaji Said Sinare would not have sworn in making the claims.

“I am telling you as a Christian who believes in Christianity, who believes in everyone’s faith because the constitution of Ghana has stated it clearly; when you deprive somebody of his religion his belief his faith it is an offence. So as a Chrisitan and a patriotic democratic who believes in everyone and his faith and religion where for the first time I have seen a Muslim as staunch as he has taken the quoran to swear and testify to what I am saying,” he stated.
