Asiedu Nketiah belittling himself for political score – Amoakohene
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A former Regional Minister of Bono East, Kofi Amoakohene, has criticized the utterances of Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the incumbent General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his bid to contest for National Chairmanship position of the party.

According to the former Minister, he is very disappointed in the experienced politician for lowering himself and ‘promoting’ internal wranglings within the NDC recently.

Ahead of the opposition NDC’s National Delegates Conference slated for Saturday, December 17, 2022, there has been some back and forth among some candidates.

Asiedu Nketiah who is contesting the National Chairmanship position against the incumbent chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has been captured in an alleged audio claiming the NDC went to the supreme court to challenge the 2020 general election without its collated figures.

The incumbent secretary is also heard explaining that the party’s IT system used for the collation of the figures malfunctioned.

Speaking on the development on the Anopa Bofo morning show on Angel FM/TV, Kofi Amoakohene says Mr. Nketiah’s comments amount to “belittling” amidst gaining grounds for political score in the chairmanship race.

“Look at what has started emerging in the party, look at our own father Asiedu Nketiah, I am so much disappointed in him because if we are looking for someone who has climbed the political ladder in this country, maybe we cannot choose between himself and John Dramani Mahama who is first.

“And to belittle yourself to this level, because of power? what has he not seen or achieved in politics, then you stood so low as the general secretary of the biggest opposition party.  I mean there are certain things if you do, you allow some of us feel disappointed,” he told Kwamina Sam Biney.

He was quick to condemn Mr, Asiedu Nketiah’s behavior and could not understand why the chairman hopeful could allow for ‘political power’ to override his achievements and his integrity in the political history of the country.

The former Member of Parliament on the ticket of the NPP for Atebubu-Amantin constituency adviced leadership of the NDC to be mindful of what is happening in the party to ensure they prevent any unforeseen incident among its members.

In his view, when there is lack of oneness and unity in any of the political parties in the country, it has the potential of threatening the country’s peaceful coexistence.
