Staff of Databank work from home after series of attacks by clients

The staff of Databank, for security reasons, would be working from home forthwith, the financial institution’s Management announced on Wednesday.

According to the Management, the work-from-home move was necessitated by clients’ abuses on its staff.

“There are several clients who have felt the need to abuse our staff physically and verbally, and also threaten their lives as well as their families,” a statement issued in the effect of the decision partly read.

Giving an account of the cause of the attacks, the company co-founded by Ken Ofori Atta the Finance Minister, blamed the situation on its liquidity challenge; Databank is unable to meet the withdrawal requests of its clients.

It all, however, boils down to the issue of the Debt Exchange Programme implemented by the Government of Ghana effective December 5, 2022, which has “worsened” the company’s plights.

“We are in the midst of a marco-economic crisis, which is adversely affecting our industry and therefore Databank.

“Due to the crisis, many fund managers had difficulty selling their Government of Ghana securities.
