A new report emerging from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) indicates that out of every five government employees, four of them earn less than GH¢3,000.
Thus out of the 688,000 persons employed by the Government of Ghana, 533,179 of them earn less than the said wage.
The number falling below the GH¢3,000 wage represents 80% of the total workforce of the public sector.
This was indicated in GSS’s report titled “The Ghana 2022 earnings: inequality in the public sector”.
The report also revealed that 104,349 people earn between GH¢3000 to GH¢4,999 while 20,606 persons earn between GH¢5,000 to GH¢9,999.
Some 6,225 people also earn over GH₵10,000.
