The District Chief Executive for Assin South District in the Central Region, Felicia Amissah Ntrakwah, has urged school children in the area to keep away from anything that can jeopardize their future growth.

Such activities, according to her, include illegal gambling, illicit drug usage, bad company, theft and teenage pregnancy among others.

She rather entreated them to direct their energies and time to their education as that is the only tool they can transform their lives with.

She gave the advise during the 66th Independence Day celebration held at Assin Darmang which saw a lot of dignitaries gracing the occasion.

In view of this, she revealed that the government has undertaken educational infrastructural projects in the district aimed at promoting quality education in deprived communities amongst which are three-unit classroom blocks in Kasim and Abass.

“Additionally, there are ongoing projects which are at various stages of completion; these projects comprise 3 unit classroom block at Assin Anyinabrim, 6 Unit Classroom block at Tomfokro, and 2 storeys consisting of 11 unit model JHS also known as 21st Century Model Junior High School at Assin Ngresi,” she noted.

Meanwhile, the District Education Director of Assin South, Mr Ransford Appiah, called on parents and teachers to instil patriotism in their children.

He said children are the future leaders of the country and thus inculcating in them the core values of justice, integrity, honesty, and nationalism will enable them to grow to become national assets.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, on his part, charged chiefs to amicably resolve conflicts among themselves to propel development.

He observed that when chieftaincy issues linger for long periods, they tend to eat into the peaceful coexistence of the people which goes a long way to derail development.
