New Publisher newspaper apologises to Naa Atswei Oduro

Naa Atswei Oduro is Senior Broadcast Journalist at Angel Broadcasting Network

The New Publisher newspaper has rendered an ‘unconditional apology’ to Angel FM’s senior broadcast journalist, Naa Atswei Oduro, over false report it carried about her some three years ago.

The said report, which appeared in the August 24, 2020 edition of the newspaper claimed the broadcaster with over 25 years of practice, defrauded her former employer in excess of GH¢500,000.

This, according to the paper, came as a result of a contract she had entered with Class Media Group, operators of Accra FM where she worked but she ditched them and joined Angel Broadcasting Network, Accra.

In an apology, the New Publisher, however, said its attention “…been drawn to the fact that the contents of the said news item are not true.”

It continued that “…the subject matter is a pending court case between the lady and her employers.”

The New Publisher retracts in its entirety, a news item the paper published three years ago, precisely on Monday, August 24, 2020 about award-winning radio and television personality, Edith Asare Tawiah, mostly known as Naa Atwei Oduro.

The attention of the paper has been drawn to the fact that the contents of the said news item are not true and indeed the subject matter is a pending court case between the lady and her employers.

The New Publisher expresses regret for the publication and renders an unconditional apology to Edith Asare Tawiah, mostly known as Naa Atwei Oduro and her family.

The paper is grateful to her and her team of lawyers for agreeing on an alternative dispute regulation negotiation to resolve the inconvenience the publication has caused the broadcast journalist.

Signed.
