Two residents of Pimpimso, a suburb of Begoro in the Fanteakwa South of the Eastern Region are currently battling for their lives after they were involved in a ghastly motor accident.
The victims, identified as Nicholas and Evans Obu – a motorbike rider and his pillion sustained severe injuries on the Pimpimso – Begoro road.
An eyewitness, told ABN’s reporter, Joshua Tetteh, that the victims believed to be in their late twenties, were returning from a funeral at Somanya when the accident occurred on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
The Okada rider and his pillion allegedly traveling at high speed collided with an oncoming vehicle transporting traders and some tomatoes from Begoro to Oseim.
Although the cause of the incident is yet to be established, the eyewitness account noted that the flashlight of the vehicle blinded the motorcycle rider leading to the severe head-on collision.
He narrated that the victim was using a Royal motorbike with registration number M- 20-ER- 279 while the taxi’s registration number is CR- 395 – Y.
One lost consciousness immediately while the other sustained broken legs. They were quickly rushed to the Saviour Hospital in Oseim and the Regional Hospital in Koforidua respectively.
Though the passengers on board the Taxi Cab involved in the accident were not harmed, the taxi was damaged.
The Police Command at Bososo responded to calls and rushed to the scene to salvage the situation. The motorcycle which was damaged beyond repairs together with the vehicle has been towed to the police station whiles investigation continues.
