Ex-teacher, Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo has said that he is yet to find reason(s) why he should offer an ‘unqualified’ apology to officials of the Ghana Education Service (GES) after being sacked from the classroom.

The controversial teacher was sacked by the GES on accusations that he has absented himself from the classroom for 55 days in an academic without permission.

According to him, his reasons for absenting himself from the classroom was not considered in a letter to the GES following a suspension that led to his dismissal.

Close to two years after his dismissal, the trained teacher who is now a comedian said he is yet to find a single reason why he should apologise to the service.

“You only apologise for something you are guilty of but I am not guilty here so why should I apologise for that…?,” he questioned.

Teacher Kwadwo after before his dismissal was a primary four teacher at the Akrofrom District Assembly Primary School in the Ashanti Region.

According to the GES, Teacher Kwadwo misconducted himself as a professional teacher, and he was a subject of disciplinary action long before now.

He is also said to have exhibited the “highest level of insubordination towards the District Director and the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) responsible for his school as well as the headteacher of his school, and that he in some instances refused to respond to queries served him by both the headteacher and the SISO.”

“He further even refused to respond to a query issued to him by the District Director and in addition refused to appear before a panel set up by the District Director to investigate his conduct.”
