NPP is unprecedented in borrowing – NDC man

Chris Dugan is a member of the NDC communication team

A Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Team, Chris Dugan, says the opposition party feels vindicated following the development around the theft of cash and goods worth millions from Cecilia Abena Dapaah’s home in Abelenkpe, Accra, by her domestic helps.

The accused are 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei.

They allegedly stole personal effects belonging to the former Sanitation and Water Resource minister including assorted clothes valued at GH¢95,000, handbags, perfumes, and jewellery worth US$95,000.

They have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and five counts of stealing.

The alleged theft is reported to have occurred between July and October 2022.

Commenting on Angel FM/TV Morning Show, July 25, 2023, on the development which has become a talk of town, Mr. Dugan stated the NDC is completely justified for constantly raising concerns about how the ruling government has become reckless in handling the country’s economy.

“Ghanaians are suffering because we didn’t even have anything called economy to manage; our economy is in tatters, shambles and broken. Even when we were going for economic bailout at the IMF, we were lacking credibility because of the recklessness of the economic management team.

“But whenever we criticize them, they try to justify and apportion it to the Russia-Ukraine War and Covid-19 among others not knowing that Ghana’s huge sums of monies are kept in their bedrooms,” he told Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah whiles expressing his concerns.

He added that indications from utterances and the position of officials of the Akuffo-Addo’s administration on the former minister clearly vindicated the NDC with regard to questions they keep raising about the NPP.

According to him, the president is the “most pretentious politician” Ghana has ever had in the country’s political history because he “lied to Ghanaians” owing to the promise he made to protect the public purse when he was vying for president.

However, Chris Dugan believes the president’s promise has turned otherwise leading to the collapse of the economy.
