Presidential aspirant, Akwasi Addae, popularly known as Odike has said he does not see the difference between Akufo-Addo’s administration and a military junta.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show on Monday, 22nd August, 2023, Odike said Akufo-Addo as President has more than enough powers in the constitution.
These powers, he added, makes the President more than a military leader who does whatever he want.
“There’s no difference between our Constitution and military style of leadership…does the President not have enough powers to execute whatever action he wants to do? Doesn’t he do all these things at will?”, he asked host, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.
He further listed several actions being undertaken by the President which point to his assertion.
“When the President said he wants to build National Cathedral, isn’t he doing it despite several calls for him to stop it? What happened to the numerous calls for him to sack Ken Ofori-Atta who is extremely incompetent? Has he sacked him?,” he queried.
According to Odike, Ghana has not been practising the best form of democracy under this republic.
He therefore advocated for a major constitutional overhaul.
