The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has rubbished assertions in the public domain that they have become inconsequential in the discharge of their mandate.
According to the General Secretary of GJA, Kofi Yeboah, the umbrella body of journalists in the country remain relevant contrary to the public notion insisting that the association remain committed to championing the cause of its members.
Mr. Yeboah made the comment on the Angel Morning Show on Monday, October 9, 2023, while speaking on the recent thuggery at the studios of UTV by some members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“The Ghana Journalist Association is serving the best interest of our members and the country, so, to say the association has downgraded itself, I will say that is not the case and I will not subscribe to those notion,” the General Secretary told Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.
He added that “statements we released in the aftermath of such incidents peak the international community in the media space.”
Kofi Yeboah further added that “we at GJA will continue to serve our members and the country reasonably.”
Kofi Yeboah concluded that the GJA will be continue to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to ensure the perpetrators face the full rigor of the law.
