The Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, believes his fate as a possible running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), lies in the hands of the flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Thank you for your good intentions about me, however, let us leave everything for [Vice President] Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because, it is he who has the final say,” he said Monday, December 18, 2023, while speaking on Angel TV and Angel 102.9 FM in Accra.

He was responding to a comment from sit-in host, he Kojo Oppong Kyeremeh, who said he wished the Majority Leader is named the NPP’s running mate going into the 2024 General Elections.

The NPP’s search for a vice presidential material ahead of 2024 continues with names including some prominent figures within the party popping up.

Persons such as Energy Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh; Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, and Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum among others, have been highly tipped to be Bawumia’s running mate.

There is a possibility the current Vice president could settle on one of three women- Naa Torshie-Addo, Administrator for the Districts Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Opare, as well as Communications Minister-Ursula Owusu-Ekuful- as his pair going into the elections.
