International Diplomatic Consultant, Farouk Al-Wahab, has said that the consistent borrowing of money to finance various projects has turned into a ‘beacon of beggars’.
“The country which was once touted as a beacon of hope for Africa has now turned into a beacon of beggars, we are begging for everything…,” he said on Angel Morning Show (AMS).
This attitude, Al-Wahab told Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has contributed to the negative image Ghana has courted in the international community.
“Our leaders are no longer respected because of their behaviour…why will we be respected when we are almost always seeking to borrow from IMF and other foreign countries,? he queried.
Al-Wahab further diagnosed that the country is currently on a reverse gear due largely to the failure of its leaders to create conditions that will favour the citizenry; and the quest for power and maintain same has worsened our plight.
“Every part of a Ghanaian life is all about politics, we do politics in school, market and everywhere…we are so obsessed with power so it is no longer shocking that the leaders are interested in maintaining power other creating jobs for the youth…,” he said.
The over concentration on winning power and maintaining same has contributed to the deterioration of the social and political fabric of the country.
“It hard for politicians to speak the truth, all in the name of the people’s vote” he stated.
