Energy Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has insisted that Ghana is not experiencing any ‘Dumsor’ crisis as purported by government critics and challenged them to provide a timetable for the ‘Dumsor’ if is there is any.

Over the past few weeks, several areas nationwide, especially in Greater Accra, have experienced frequent power cuts, leading to frustration among residents towards the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

These outages have disrupted daily activities for businesses and individuals alike. Despite increasing demands for ECG to establish a consistent load-shedding timetable to aid in daily planning, the company insists there is no official “dumsor” and opposes the need for a schedule.

Speaking at the NPP campaign team inauguration in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh assured the public that efforts are underway to address the challenges.

He stressed that improving the energy sector is an ongoing process and his ministry is committed to making things better.

“I have promised you that we am going to work on it and it is not a work that is a single event but a  process, and we will continue to work on it for the energy sector to become better,” he said.

Supporting ECG’s stance against introducing a load-shedding timetable, Dr. Opoku Prempeh pointed out that such request is not necessary as the ECG has assured no need for it.

“Ask those who want it to bring it. I don’t know of any timetable because ECG has deemed it unnecessary. Why would someone wish evil for the country?” he questioned.
