Dr Kwaku Oteng, Founder and President of Angel Group of Companies has donated personal protective equipment to the University of Education, Winneba in the Central Region to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The items included veronica buckets, tissues, liquid soaps, face masks, Adonko Original Hand Sanitizers, and Adonko Next Level premium energy drinks.

The donation was made on behalf of the Group and its President by the Marketing Manager of Adonko Bitters Limited, Mr Vincent Opare on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

Mr. Opare told Darling FM’s Nyansapow Timothy that the founder and president of Angel Group of Companies, Dr. Kwaku Oteng, thought it wise to give back to the society and help solve societal problems.

“Our concern is, once you live in a society, you make sure that if there is any suffering, you go closer to the family to help. This is one of the examples that we have been showing to society. We are led by Dr Kwaku Oteng and he says that, in this moment of grief, all that he can do to support the school or the community is to give you these PPEs”, he noted.

Receiving the items on behalf of the University of Education, Winneba, Mr Paul Osei Barima who is the school’s Registrar lauded the Angel Group of Companies for coming to the aid of the school.

He commended the company for channeling its efforts to universities in the country to help fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

He noted that since the school trains the manpower for the development of the nation, it would be dire for the country if the university is affected by the pandemic.

He prayed for a lasting relationship between the university and Adonko.

“From today, we are going to chart a new path with you, so that you will explore other areas of cooperation, you will explore other areas of collaboration. I want to appeal to you that since we are training teachers predominately, if Adonko will come over to Macedonia to help, particularly in the form of scholarship to our brilliant but needy people, that will also go a long way, because those students will serve as a multiplier effect for Adonko to be heard nationwide.”

Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Andrews Ofori-Birikorang remarked that the donation came at the appropriate time and promised to put them into good use.

He hoped other organisations would emulate the gesture by Adonko and the Angel Group to “continue to support us so that we can defeat COVID-19 or manage it to appreciable level”.
