Mother of the deceased final year student of Gwiraman Senior High School, at the Nzema East District, has blamed the school authorities for her son’s death.

The deceased, Nathaniel Yankey died at the age of 21 in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at the Essikado Government Hospital after complaining of headache.

Speaking on Thursday, July 16, 2020, on Angel FM’s morning show, ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’, Maame Adwoa Esson said the school authorities were negligent.

“As school authorities you were supposed to bring my son to me after knowing he wasn’t feeling well, (the woman told the headmistress) and so if I say the teachers negligence killed my son then I am right, because when he informed the teachers he wanted to come, all they say is he should continue with his medication,” she spoke in Twi.

Autopsy report on the cause of death is not ready, and the school authorities have yet to issue a statement on the incident.

Recently three teaching staff of KNUST SHS in Kumasi were interdicted after the death of a final year student. A viral video showed the deceased writhing in pain as he was supported by his colleagues with teachers rather standing aloof.
