Angry final year Students of Adanwomase Senior High School (SHS) in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region, on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, embarked on a demonstration after questions they expected in the Integrated Science paper did not appear.
The angry students vandalised the school’s dining hall and destroyed some properties in the schools.
Some of the students said “Our teachers gave us a book to study in 2019 which they told us the book is from President Akufo-Addo. They told us to learn the book because the WASSCE questions will come from that book.”
According to the students “We went to the examination hall and not even a single question appeared on the examination paper from that book.”
“Some of the teachers were strict and rude to us after deceiving us to learn the [Akuffo Addo book] they gave to us. After everything they did to us yesterday during our paper, they were forcing us to go to the classroom to learn again. We won’t go to the classroom today nor tomorrow,” one of them said.
The students are demanding immediate dismissal or transfer of the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics, Mohammed Mumuni Adams, for his alleged attitude towards the students during the first paper.
