Pollster and Managing Editor of Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson has suggested that the candidate that wins the hearts of first time voters could turn the 2020 presidential election in his or her favour.

“New figures of the first time voters released by the Electoral Commission(EC) show that the 1.3 million voters can make a great difference in the upcoming 2020 elections”, he observed.

He indicated that it will take a “good strategic plan” by a political party to win these voters to their fold.

Mr. Ephson was  speaking on Angel FM’s ‘Anopa Bofo’ morning show on Thursday.

Over 762 thousand registered voters representing 4.5% were 18 years old whilst over 612 thousand representing 3.6% were 19 years old.

The pollster analysed that the combined figure of 1,375,048 representing 8.1% of the total number of registered voters nationwide can be very resourceful to political parties.

He added that the breakdown can serve as a pathway for political parties to target and sell their messages to the youth.
