A group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth, in the Tema West Constituency, has called on the party’s national executives to advise persons behind negative publications against their MP, Carlos Ahenkorah.

According to the Concerned Youth of Tema West (CYTW), some regional executives are behind these publications.

They mentioned Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey, Regional Chairman, Divine Agorhum, Regional second Vice Chairperson, Joan Ada and Irene Naa Torshie, as those scheming and planting untruths about Mr Ahenkorah.

A statement jointly signed by David Appiah, Nana Kwaku Nimo and Joyce Ago Avivor, chairman, secretary and organiser respectively, the group claimed to be “reliably informed about all their plans to make Carlos unpopular and later send a petition to the national council and NEC to get him changed. This agenda is orchestrated and sponsored by Agorhum, Ashitey, Joana and Torshie,” they alleged.

“But we want to assure them, we the Youth of Tema West are solidly behind our Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Candidate, Kingsley Carlos Ahenkorah,” they added.

They said the Greater Accra Regional Chairman has never liked Carlos because he believed, Carlos did not support his bid to become regional Chairman. Mr Agorhum is also believed have sponsored a candidate through a close associate, to contest Carlos during the party’s just-ended parliamentary primaries, but lost the contest.

The *Former Unemployed Graduates Association of Ghana* can not hide the goodness, opportunities and great works being executed by this current Administration and Government of Ghana led by *H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo* and his gallant team of committed men and women. We can best describe them as a miracle of our time, and like the saying; one good term deserves another.

In 2011, when the unemployment rate skyrocketed in Ghana, a group of young graduates came together to push for proper government policies on Unemployment. All the stakeholders, including the government of the former President John Dramani Mahama and now the flagbearer of NDC took us for granted, rubbished our concerns with impunity, and to add salt to injury; tagged us as lazy youth with a lazy approach, calling ourselves unemployed graduates. They never considered any solution to a challenge of such magnitude. Today the NPP government under the able leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has introduced several life saving policies including the Unemployment Insurance Policy awaiting implementation in 2021 as announced by the Finance Minister; Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta during the Mid-Year Review Budget. This, to us, is a great piece of information which indicates that, we have a listening government ready to build a great country with the able support of the youth.

At the inception of the Nation Builders Corps-popularly refereed to as NABCO, some naysayers said it wasn’t feasible, it was a scam, and a high level of deceit on the part of government against young graduates. Today, we are glad to say that, most of our members have enrolled in such a creative program meant to bridge the gap between the employed and the unemployed. It has also reduced the high levels of irresponsibilities that visited young graduates as a result of many years of unemployment in the J. D. Mahama administration.

Under the leadership of former President Mahama, there were various promises to train the youth into starting their own businesses to push a global agenda of Entrepreneurship, but such did not see the light of day, the proposed policy guidelines were vague, lacked a clear roadmap of implementation, leading to waste of resources and in most cases embezzlement of state funds by some government officials. Very absurd.
Today, National Entrepreneurship Innovation Program-NEIP has set the records straight, NEIP has reduced the dependency ratio on public sector jobs through the enrollment of several entrepreneurship projects, programs and pitches.

The Youth Employment Agency – YEA has employed a greater number of young men and women, who were arguably part of our association in the various regions and district of Ghana and continues to do so, offering a practical hands on experience leading to achieving real time deliverables. Our members are no more existing on the face of the earth, we are living.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry’s policy on Business Advisory Unit, National Board for Small Scale Industries-NBSSI is continuously rolling out a Stimulus Package that is catering for a number of our members with soft loans. We are self employed, owners and managers of small scale business. This never happened under the watch of the previous NDC administration led by former President John Dramani Mahama.

In the field of Agriculture, the back bone of the nation, Planting for Food and Jobs, Rearing for Food and Jobs, Planting for Exports and Rural Development has put away several issues relating to the unemployment in Ghana and in the same vein provided fresh foods for young Ghanaians and their families, as well as some amount of foreign exchange. We do not know what’s called hunger again.

Last but not least, the Forestry Commission absorbed a significant host of Unemployed Graduates in Ghana, through several of their intervention programs. Young people now, wake up to at least a day job, bills and daily expenses are not choking us to death again. It’s worthy of saying, that, other several government establishments have and still recruiting trained Teachers, trained Nurses, not forgetting the Military, Police, Immigration, Prison, Customs and Fire officers to augment the shortfall in the security, civilian ratio.

Glory be to God we have a listening President who understands the issues of the unemployed and is committed to solving the unemployment situation in Ghana at a very fast pace. The measures which has reduced drastically the unemployment rate in Ghana and currently stands at approximately 9.16% according to the
IMF World Economic Index as of July 2020. This is a true reflection of the total NPP government’s commitment to eradicate completely the issues of unemployment amongst young graduates.

It is in the best interest of all Ghanaians, the remaining few of the unemployed youth to maintain the NPP Government under H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, because the era of Unemployed Graduates Association of Ghana is passed, we shall not visit the old days again. A new dawn has come and we should ensure it stays as long as they keep our interest as young people at heart. The future of Ghana is ours.

We therefore add our voice to the popular slogan of 4more for NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO and his MP’s to do more.

    God bless our homeland Ghana.
    Long live Ghana
