The Public Affairs and Communication Director of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Florence Asante, has confirmed the arrest and seizure of some fire arms which were imported into the country by an unlicensed agent.
Speaking on Angel FM’s ‘Anↄpa Bↄfoↄ’, Madam Asante explained that custom officers at the Tema Port detected the arms which were concealed in a personal effect imported into the country from Turkey during a search.
She narrated that 436 pistols, 26packs of 50 pieces of ammunition and 140 liter piece of pepper spray were found in the container.
According to her, the alleged firearms were described as ‘physical effect and household goods’ but after a careful examination, it was flagged ‘red channel’.
The clearing agent have been arrested to assist with investigations.
