18-year-old striker sent home from Black Stars camp days after debut call up

Budding youngster, Prince Adu Kwabena, has expressed appreciation to Black Stars gaffer C.K Akonnor, after he had his debut call-up to the senior national team fall through.

The 18-year-old forward who is currently in camp preparing for the U-20 WAFU tournament, was invited to join the Black Stars ahead of 2021 AFCON qualifier against South Sudan.

However, in an interesting twist of event, the younster’s hope of playing for the senior team remains a dream for a another day, as he was asked to return to the U-20 camp.

According to Prince Adu, “officials told me to go back because some of the strikers they invited have given them the greenlight on when they will arrive.”

Speaking on the ‘Floodlight Sports’ on Angel 102.9 FM on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, the Bechem United player is confident this honor done him will encourage him to work extra hard.

“I am very glad my name was even mentioned by the coach. It has encouraged me to continue doing my best. However, I would have been excited if I stayed in the Black Stars camp to understudy some players,” told host, Saddick Obama.

Prince Adu scored six goals for Bechem United last season before moving to Tarkwa-based Medeama SC.
