A former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings has been reported dead.
He was 73 years old.
Mr. Rawlings reportedly died Thursday morning at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The cause of his death is not yet known.
The former Ghanaian military leader and subsequent politician, lost his mother, VIctoria Agbotui, a little over a month ago.
H ruled the country from 1981 to 2001 and also for a brief period in 1979. He led a military junta until 1992, and then served two terms as the democratically elected President of Ghana.
He left behind a wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman, as well as three daughters: Zanetor Rawlings, Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings, Amina Rawlings and one son, Kimathi Rawlings.
