Incumbent President, Nana Akufo-Addo who is flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is projected to win the December 7 elections after first round with more than 52% of votes cast, pollster Ben Ephson has revealed.

“With a two percent of margin of error, Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party will win with 52.6 percent and John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will also get 45.7 percent,” Ben Epshon said Wednesday, November 25, 2020, on the ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’ morning show.

The Managing Editor of the ‘Daily Dispatch’ newspaper mentioned that there are several reasons which will account for Mahama’s failure in the 2020 election.

The first reason, he said, will be the inability of teachers and nurses to trust Mahama over his promise to restore trainee teachers’ allowances after its withdrawal in 2016 by Mahama-led NDC administration.

The second reason Ben Ephson added, was Mahama instigating mistrust against Akufo Addo’s implementation of Free SHS (Senior High School) policy, after then opposition leader won the 2016 general elections.

The other reason, he noted further, which will account for a loss or a win in the December 7 election is, the 1.3 million new voters whose ages range from 18 to 19. Many of these youth whom he noted are beneficiaries of the free SHS programme, would be tempted to vote for the sitting president.
