The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that he is keen on winning more votes from the Ashanti Region in the 2020 elections.

In an interview with Kwame Tanko on Angel 96.1FM, the President said this vision has informed his decision to be frequenting the region in the final weeks of campaign.

“The number of times I have visited the region shows that I don’t take the 3 million votes from the region for granted…,” he said.

He said it would be unheard of for the NPP to forego its stronghold during such a crucial polls.

The President is currently on a fifth tour of the Ashanti Region.

Critics have accused him of frequenting the region because of the fear of voter apathy.

“Asanteman is also the base of the NPP, so it is important that it takes centre stage in everything we do…,” he said.
