The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed two officers, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama and Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu to act as Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Naval Staff respectively.
According to a communique released on January 29, 2021 and signed by the Acting Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, the officers are expected to begin acting “effective Friday 5th January 2021, pending consultation with the yet-to-be-constituted council of State.”
Until Rear Admiral Seth Amoama’s new appointment, he was the Chief of Naval Staff. He replaces the current Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. O.B. Akwa whose retirement is due on February 5, 2021.
Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu on the hand was until his new appointment, the Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces. He replaces Rear Admiral Seth Amoama as Chief of Naval Staff.
