The Petitioner in the ongoing Election Petition case, John Dramani Mahama would be forced to mount the witness box to be cross-examined if the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensah is subpoenaed to do same.

Spokesperson for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah indicated that they are exploring the possibility of also subpoenaing the petitioner John Mahama to mount the witness box if respondents are compelled to call witnesses.

This follows indication from lawyers of the petitioner to subpoena the EC Chair, Jean Mensa after the court ruled it cannot compel her to be cross examined by lawyers of the petitioner.

Speaking in a post-ruling interview, Oppong Nkrumah said they were convinced from the onset that the petitioner did not have a case.
