The hot sun and green turf at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium gave Kotoko a warm welcome as the “Porcupine Warriors” thrashed Bechem United 4-0 in their match day 16 fixture which was rained off before in the first round of the 2020/2021 Ghana premier League season.

The Kumasi based team who have moved their home ground from Accra Sports Stadium to Obuasi recorded their highest score line so far in the season with four different scorers.

Abdul Ganiyu opened the score for the home side from a Fabio Gama pass in the 12th minute. Fabio Gama followed this up in the 42nd minute with the second goal with an assist from Andy Kumi. The Brazilian dedicated the goal to his pregnant wife.

With Kotoko leading by two goals in the second half, Coach Barreto swapped Emmanuel Gyamfi with Godfred Asiamah. Meanwhile, Kotoko new boy Andy Kumi who made his debut added his name to the scorers of the day making it 3-0.

The 79th minute substitute Micheal Vinicius who was also making his debut tapped in the 4th goal after Godfred Asiamah’s shot was blocked.

The victory takes Kotoko to 3rd on the league log, two points behind leaders Accra Great Olympics and a point above arch rivals Hearts of Oak.
