The Kaneshie District court has remanded a 31-year-old Trader, Prince Quaye popularly known as Juu for killing his two and half year-old son.

Presenting the facts of the case at the court on Monday, the prosecutor, Sergeant Apewe Achana said the complainant, Abigail Nyumor, who is also the mother of the child is a food vendor and lives at Akuma Village near Bank of Ghana, Accra while the accused, Prince Acquaye is also a food vendor and claimed to be an internet fraudster.

The complainant is said to be the girlfriend of the accused. The two lived together with the deceased who was their only child.

According to Sergeant Achana, the accused for about two months ago kept telling the complainant that she should not worry ‘if something happens to the deceased’ as they will be rich later.

The Police Prosecutor continued that the complainant did not take the statements serious as he believed the accused was only joking and hence warned him ‘to stop joking.’

The deceased while at home with the complainant and the accused on 20th April, 2021, reportedly requested for money at about 12:00pm to buy groundnut leading the complainant to give him GHC 5.00.

When the deceased left to buy the groundnut, the mother dozed off, but was later awoken by neighbors who told her the deceased has been thrown into the sea by the accused.

After reporting the action of the accused to the police, he was was arrested and handed over to the police while the victim was rushed to Korle-bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

He however died on 21st April, 2021 while on admission.

Prosecutor Apewe Achana said preliminary investigations revealed that, the accused was once initiated into an occult and it was about time he makes a human sacrifice since the occult forces were tormenting him.

He therefore chose to sacrifice the deceased by throwing him down the cliff at Akuma Village which is thirty three (33) feet above sea level in order to gain his freedom and wealth.

The court was subsequently charged with murder and case adjourned to 17th May, 2021.
