Angry Ghanaian Immigration Officers assigned by government to beef up the closed Ghana boarders at Paga in the Upper West Region have threatened to abandon their duties over the decision of the government to slash their daily allowance.

The Immigration Officers who were promised a GHC 100.00 daily allowance to cater for their feeding and accommodation have now decided to stop working as a result of the government’s inability to fulfill its promises to them.

They were sent to man the border and prevent illegal persons from entering the country due to the spread of the OVID-19 disease.

“We were even expecting to be paid previous amount the government owe us since March until we heard today that the GHC 100 has been decreased to GHC 50 with the reason that the country does not have enough money for us…,” one of the Immigration Officers who only identified himself as Osei said in an interview on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofo.

According to him, they were not informed of this decision earlier on.

“We expected the government to at least officially inform us of the new decision taken so that those who do not agree with it will back off but the news just broke out all of a sudden without any notice,” he said further.
