One person was shot dead while two others sustained varied degrees of injuries after armed robbers attacked a sand wining site at Gomoa Manso in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.

According to information gathered by Angel FM news reporter, Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack, the armed robbers attacked them on Monday evening around 8:00pm when the victims were at the site working.

The robbers after storming the place demanded money from the victims and when the victims claimed they have none, the robbers started firing gunshots which resulted in the death of the 26-year-old man leaving two others in critical condition.

Central Regional Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Sgt Issac Evans Entie speaking with the media said Agona Swedru Police received information of an armed robbery attack on sand winners at Gomoa Manso in the Gomoa Central District, a suburb of Agona Swedru.

“Police proceeded to the scene and found a male adult aged about 26, wearing Grey Jeans and a Red Shirt, dead, behind the steering wheel of the pay-loader machine. The body was inspected and there was a deep gunshot wound on his right chin.

Enquires at the scene indicated that deceased Kwame Abeiku was the operator of the wheel loader machine working at the Gomoa Manso Sand wining site. That, about 1800 hours, deceased was returning the machine to Gomoa Manso town with other occupants on board and on reaching a section of the road, they were attacked by three armed men with short barrel gun and a lady, fired and killed the loader operator instantly and robbed other occupants of an unspecified amount of money and escaped through the bush.

“Victims Emmanuel Asare, aged 55, and Charles Aidoo, aged 20, who sustained injuries are currently on admission at Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital receiving treatment. The body of the deceased has been deposited at Swedru Municipal Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
