Man arrested for allegedly murdering Uber driver in Kumasi

One person has been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of an Uber driver at Feyiase Akoyem in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, the Ghana Police Service has said.

The suspect has been named as Rashid Ibrahim, the police said in a Facebook post Monday.

He is said to have admitted to committing the crime.

“The suspect who initially gave untenable alibi to police later confessed to committing the crime and led police to retrieve the machete which he allegedly used to behead the deceased at Feyiase New Site on 4th July, 2021″, the police explained.

He is in currently in the police custody and will be arraigned before court.

The deceased Israel Agyei Manu, a headteacher of Rogel Montessori Basic School at Atonsu in Kumasi was found decapitated on Sunday, July 4, sparking fears among residents.
