The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, has denied knowledge of any contributions towards the funeral rites of his father, the late Nana Boanyina Adusei Mensah (II).

The minister’s reaction follows a letter making rounds on social media with the caption “contributions towards the final funeral rites of the late Nana Boanyina Adusei Mensah II – Boanimhene, father of the Hon Regional Minister, Hon Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah (MP)”

According to him, there is no truth in the purported letter making rounds on social media requesting assistance from the assemblies to bury his father.

Speaking on the Anopa Bofo morning show on Thursday morning, he told Kofi Adoma Nwanwani that, “the Regional Coordinating Council hasn’t issued any such letter to the assembly. It is fake”.

The Minister admitted that his father has passed on and the funeral would be held next Saturday however, he has no knowledge of any letter seeking assistance from the assemblies for the funeral rites.

” I have not had any prior conversation or meeting with anyone. I’ve spoken to the Chief Director of the Western Regional Coordinating Council, Frederick Agyemang and he hasn’t issued any letter to that effect”, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah stressed.

He added that “private funerals cannot be funded with tax payers money. I will reject any donations from the assemblies towards my father’s funeral rites”
