Out of 260 persons nominated for the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) position for the various assemblies, 38 representing 14.6 percent are women.

This was revealed in President Akufo-Addo’s list of nominees released on September 19, 2021 during the Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development’s announcement of the MMDCEs.

However, the number is subject to change because according to the Minister, Dan Bowte, the various assemblies would have to confirm whether they accept the nominees or not.

Meanwhile, two out of the 16 regions have not had a representation, and these include Western and Ahafo Region.

The women nominees include:

Western Region: Louisa Iris Aride, Jomoro Municipal; Dorcas Elizabeth Amoah, Nzema East Municipal.

Northern Region: Hajia Ayishatu Seidu, Savalugu Municipal
