FixTheCountry Demo: Takoradi, Western Region deserves better – Convenor to Gov’t
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A convener of the #FixTheCountry campaign, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, has warned that the youth of Takoradi and the Western Region at large will bare teeth to President Akufo-Addo led government if it fails to address the unemployment and developmental needs of the people in the region.

According to him, the Western Region—despite its rich mineral deposits and other natural resources—has been deprived of key developmental infrastructure and jobs.

Moreover, due to the total negligence of the region by successive government, there is high level of agitation among its residents.

Thus, the people would rise against the government and its leadership should deaf ears be turned to their calls.

“We are tired of the soft standard leadership in the country. When I came to the region, you can see the level of hopelessness in the eyes of the youth in the region.”

“The youth do not have jobs, the youth have nothing, they don’t know where they’re going, education is nothing to write home about and insecurity issues on the rise” Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah angrily said.

He argue that the people of Takoradi and the Western Region deserve better, given that it is host to key national infrastructure and economic resources such as mining, harbor, oil and gas hub and many more.

He also reiterated the call for a constitutional change to back the transformation and development Ghanaians have wished for.

Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah made the remarks in an interview with Angel FM reporter Nana Fyn during the #FixTheCountry demonstration stagged on Tuesday morning on the principal street of Takoradi.
