Four police officers interdicted for unprofessional conduct in Tamale

The Ghana Police Service has interdicted four police officers working with the Tamale Regional Police Command in the Northern Region for unprofessional conduct.

According to the police administration, the decision comes after the police received information and footages concerning ill treatment meted out some residents of Tamale on Tuesday September 21, 2021.

The officers were by command assigned to assist NEDCO/VRA officials to arrest some persons alleged to have been engaged in illegal power connections in the town which metamorphosed into the misconduct.

In a statement, the police said “The Police Administration has with immediate effect, interdicted four police officers working with the Tamale Regional Police Command following the alleged assault of some persons in Tamale in the Northern Region today, Tuesday, September 21, 2021”

“The officers will face a service inquiry, subject to the regulations of the Ghana Police Service” the statement read.

They however rendered unqualified apology to the victims and the general public, and noted that processes have been initiated to identify the victims of the malhandlement for “medical assessments and assistance”.
